LRC COVID-19 STATEMENT

As you no doubt are aware, the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has made life around the world one of angst and uncertainty, if not confusion.  Many of you are concerned about the threat the virus poses to your health and well-being, and are anxious to know what impact the pandemic will have on church services and upcoming church events, including the General Conference Session scheduled to convene in Indianapolis this summer.
The Administrators of the Lake Region Conference (LRC) have been monitoring the situation and wish to share with you the following information. We value the health and safety of all our members. If you are feeling ill, especially if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, we encourage you not to venture out for church services. Please contact your local physician immediately and seek medical help. At-risk individuals, such as the elderly and those with acute underlying conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, heart issues, etc.), should also prayerfully consider staying home.

For those planning on being at church, we are encouraging you to maintain a sanitary environment as you meet to worship. We urge a time of earnest prayer for the power of God to be manifested, resulting in a time of healing for all affected by this disease. Maximum care and caution should be exercised regarding communion and fellowship meals. In the event of a State Emergency, we strongly recommend alternative methods of worship, such as online meetings and telephone conferences.

Regarding various conference and world church events and activities, we have postponed our 50th Anniversary celebration of the Christian Fellowship League scheduled for March 14th in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As of this moment, the General Conference Session and all major programs serving as a prelude to GC appear to be on schedule. The GC is looking at options in the event the crisis does not ease anytime soon.

The Adventist Risk Management (ARM) has provided some information and links to keep us all informed as we monitor this situation. The World Health Organization – Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The International SOS – Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Outbreak and the U.S. State Department – Current Outbreak of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Pastor Doug Batchelor, PhD, president of Amazing Facts Television Ministry recently conducted an interview with Dr. Neil Nedley, president of the Weimar Institute where they discussed N.E.W.S.T.A.R.T, a healthy lifestyle plan that promotes the prevention of diseases. Health has been emphasized by Adventist for over a hundred years. Watch the Interview.

As we remain vigilant, let’s continue to be prayerful & practical, “knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now, our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” Roman 13:11.
